2024 Strategic Plan

Dear Wayside Family,

 I hope the new year is off to an excellent start for you and yours!

 Our Lady of the Wayside finished 2023 strong and I’m proud of the resilience and dedication the agency’s direct service professionals and administrative support staff demonstrated in supporting the individuals in our care.

 As we move forward, Wayside’s 2024 Strategic Plan is focused with particular emphasis on the following initiatives:

  • Manage, maximize, and balance Wayside’s $40 million 2024 budget

  • Elevate the quality of our workforce by attracting and retaining qualified staff via a 4-10% increase in the agency’s overall Direct Service Professional wages

  • Enhance communication between agency program staff and stakeholders (per the 2023 Quality Assurance Parent/Guardian Survey)

  • Augment OLW’s Residential and Pathways Program community integration strategies

  • Fortify Wayside’s 110 vehicle transportation through the application of our upgraded maintenance plan and the addition of 4 new lift vans

  • Convert the agency’s former nursing program into a comprehensive Healthcare Program specifically tailored for individuals with developmental disabilities

  • Improve healthcare-related communication through better management of external relationships between physicians’ offices and OLW staff

  • Increase agency focus on the State’s new ISP process in support of individuals’ needs

  • Improve OLW facilities by assessing and completing identified capital projects

  • Expand Wayside’s community stature by further developing joint ventures and partnerships with like-minded organizations

 These initiatives have one important thing in common: the advancement of Wayside’s mission to support the 450 individuals on our caring watch. The 2024 Strategic Plan – created by our Board and staff, strikes just the right balance of asserting a broad agency-wide reach while simultaneously implementing a person-centered approach to individualized support.
