A constant comfort to the individuals Our Lady of the Wayside supports, Rosella Puskas had been a donor for years. However, her quiet generosity over the years in no way prepared us for the letter that came saying that she had left the agency an extraordinary bequest of $400,000.
If you ever need evidence of good in this world, think about Rosella Puskas making the lives of people with disabilities better … that kind of goodness makes us all forever changed for the better - and forever thankful.
A message from Wayside President & CEO…
“I wanted to take a moment to provide a brief mid-year update of the Wayside’s most recent events and activities!
Wayside distinguished itself yet again during the State of Ohio’s Department of Developmental Disabilities’ program survey in April. Due to its unprecedented size, scope, and success, the agency’s Board issued this resolution:
It was acknowledged by the Board of Directors of Our Lady of the Wayside their recognition of all Members of the OLW staff contributing to the remarkable achievement of a multi three-year certification from the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities.”…
After 24 years and 96,000+ rides donated to Our Lady of the Wayside, the Car Donation Program is paused.
The car lot’s owner has sold the property, making it impossible for car donations to be accepted at this time. Next right steps will be determined and communicated soon.
At the core of the agency’s mission for over 55 years, Wayside’s Residential Program manages 70 homes throughout 4 Northeast Ohio counties, and offers a comprehensive array of supports tailored for the optimum health and well-being of the individuals the agency serves. Supported living, consortium homes, and transitional living services are all part of The Wayside family of services.
Medically vulnerable individuals require nursing attention - this fundamental premise is universal - but especially poignant for people with developmental disabilities who live without the ability to communicate, ambulate and/or advocate for themselves. Wayside’s Healthcare Services Program responds with proactive measures, medication management, on-going treatments, and a healthy dose of TLC.
Offering a wide range in-house activities and community outings, Wayside’s Pathways Program is the region’s largest adult day program of its kind for individuals with developmental disabilities. Locations in Avon, Garfield Heights, Mentor, Valley View, and Westlake, offer full days of fun and friends for 250+ participants!
Safe, reliable, and accessible transportation gives the individuals Wayside serves the ability to participate in their community, achieve personal goals, and access greater opportunities.
Wayside’s Residential Programming includes 70 homes in nearly 40 communities.
Wayside’s Transportation Programming rolls with a fleet of 115 vehicles that log-in 1 million miles annually.
The people we serve have places to go & things to do! Wayside’s community-based Pathways Day Program hosts 250+ participants daily at 5 sites.
